A-Delta Trio Wins First Prize at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition

On 24 November, the saxophone trio A-Delta Trio was awarded First Prize at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition. This annual Swiss competition focuses on promoting young instrumentalists.

Comprising Álvaro Rodríguez Cabezas, María Chamizo, and Miguel Fernández, the ensemble shared the award ex aequo with the Zürich Saxophon Quartett. In addition to the cash prize, the trio will have the opportunity to perform a series of concerts at festivals and venues across Switzerland.

A Rising Trajectory

This prize adds to an already impressive list of achievements in 2025. In July, A-Delta Trio received the “Ricardo Hontañón” Award for the best performance of a work composed after 1945 at the 2025 Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition.

The trio was also a finalist at the 112th edition of the Juventudes Musicales de España Competition, in the Chamber Music category.

Based in Switzerland but composed of three Spanish musicians, A-Delta Trio focuses on performing works by contemporary composers, with the goal of expanding the repertoire for their ensemble.

In this vein, they have recently premiered works by Eli Korman and Guiomar Ortiz, and will soon present pieces by Aline Sarah Muller, Benjamin Attahir, Kevin Juillerat, and Inés Badalo.
