The city of Baza has once again established itself as a leading destination for chamber music with the 14th edition of the "Antón García Abril" International Chamber Music Competition, which concluded on Saturday with the victory of the Portuguese ensemble Flowing Reeds Duo, featuring two outstanding young accordion virtuosos.
Held from 11 to 13 June at the Teatro Dengra, the competition brought together 70 musicians performing in 27 ensembles from Spain and fourteen other countries, once again confirming its international prestige within the European chamber music scene.
The Second Prize was awarded ex aequo to Duo Ekes, a violin and piano duo from the United Kingdom, and A-Delta Trio, an acclaimed saxophone ensemble from Switzerland. The Third Prize went to Duo Kontrast, a Portuguese clarinet and accordion duo.
